Evidence before an answer.

Our assessments apply to the exact manufacturer, model or formulation, manufacturing revision, and use described. Missing information never counts as proof of safety.

Four labels, limited to the stated use

Verified Bird Safe: qualifying evidence supports the exact revision and stated use. This is not a guarantee for every species, exposure or situation.

NOT BIRD SAFE: qualifying evidence connects the exact product to a documented bird hazard in the stated use or exposure condition.

Under Investigation: relevant evidence, revision coverage, or verification requirements remain unresolved.

Unable to Verify: investigation has not established sufficient dependable information.

Separate uses need separate evidence

A household appliance, a wet coating during application, a fully cured surface, direct bird contact, chewing, and ingestion create different exposures. A statement about one does not establish safety for another. A barcode may identify a catalog item without identifying an internal manufacturing change.

What supports a classification?

Two different evidence questions matter: does authoritative avian evidence establish the hazard or safety criteria, and does reliable manufacturer documentation cover the exact model, revision, materials and use? Photographs, brand reputation, visually similar products, food contact claims, and generic nonstick descriptions do not answer both questions.

Research and verification are separate. Definitive labels require documented checks for source authenticity, preserved evidence, exact scope, freshness and unresolved conflicts. Automated opinion, confidence scores and an absence of reported incidents do not qualify. A changed revision, expired evidence or failed verification returns the assessment to investigation. A documented exact-model hazard can support a warning for the stated exposure even when the revision of a purchased item is unknown. The evidence details identify the dated model disclosure and the revision gap; they do not certify other revisions.

The initial database is being assembled. Product records can contain useful manufacturer disclosures while remaining Under Investigation. A citation is evidence to inspect, not a promise that every verification requirement has been met.

Why PTFE evidence matters

Authoritative avian references document severe inhalation hazards from PTFE decomposition fumes. Manufacturer documentation is needed to connect PTFE to a named model. PFOA-free does not mean PTFE-free, and no temperature shown here should be treated as a guaranteed safety boundary for birds.

Sources and corrections

Each record provides source links, the date its evidence was checked, and expandable investigation details. Manufacturer correspondence and retained source files are preserved privately when appropriate. Public records summarize relevant findings without publishing private correspondence or reproducing entire copyrighted documents.

If your product label, revision or documentation differs, please send a correction with the exact model and source. A missing record means no assessment was found.

Buying options

Where to Buy appears only within currently verified product records reached through Find Bird-Safe Products. Offers must match the exact model and covered revision. Visually similar substitutes are not recommendations.
